The annual FINNISH METAL AWARDS voting is once again open for public.
The fifth Finnish Metal Awards gala will reward the best in Finnish metal in conjunction with the Helsinki Metal Meeting, on February 20th, 2010.
The elite on Finnish metal artists will be awarded in seven different categories, and as it should be, the decision belongs the to the metal devouring public, Finnish and international. Complaining and bitching about the same bands winning everything every year helps nobody, so let the correct opinion be known and cast Your vote!
Please note: International voters don't need to understand the intro text, just fill in the blanks on the voting form, and PLEASE, as this is the FINNISH metal awards, only Finnish artists/bands and their achievements during the year 2009 are eligible in the voting. The voting uses an e-mail verification, so please submit yours in the bottom of the form.
The voting closes January 31st, 2010 at 23:59 Finnish time. Finnish Metal Awards Gala will be held at Helsinki Cable Factory, Saturday February 20th, 2010.

Kings Of Modesty the perfect example? Kings of Modesty – Hell or Highwater – release date 25 September 2009....
Originally the Face of Modesty formed in 1994 but with the introduction of a new singer the band changed their name to Kings of Modesty. This change came about four years ago and Hell or Highwater is their debut release since their promo EP in 2007. Can the members be forgiven for having extra responsibilities with other projects and will they rock? ....
The Band:....
Jason Flinck – Vocals....
Samuel Hjelt – Guitars....
Mikael Hjlet – Keyboards....
Henkka Tuura – Bass....
Rane Simoinen – Drums ....
Industrial undertones with deep colours of prog. Flinck’s vocals take command but Mikael’s nicely duets with him on Never Touched The Rainbow. Injections of energy are propelled forward by Simoinen. I am not surprised that the DJ’s within the rock world has favoured this song.
....Rumblings of power through Samuel’s never ending aggression. More power is added by Simoinen’s double bass along with Tuura that could be missed unless you turn up the volume. The Hourglass has been mixed on big speakers at high volume so turn up the stereo fool.....
....Oriental influences from Mikael on Deep Down sets the scene of a mishap dream. The insanity works beautifully in a collard of noise that is abstract yet compelling listening.....
Staring Eyes is not what you would expect. The versatility of Flinck is fantastic and adds to the ambiance of the overall structure and sound of Kings of Modesty. If you want to capture the highs and lows of life Staring Eyes only adds to the madness....
Hell Or Highwater has so many genres within it you have to listen to it to believe it. Brilliance is attained through the gift of expression and this band is truly gifted.....
Considering I am in awe of Hell or Highwater the opening of Suicidal Mission has blown me away. Brilliant guitar, keys, drums, bass and vocal work throughout.....
Once Upon A Time is reminiscing to the late 70’s early 80’s soft rock explosion from ....Americas..... Then Kings of Modesty explodes into their trademark use of power guitar and keys. The trip does not end there for Flinck opens up his lungs over a augmented duel between keys and the rest of the world.....
Ok it’s time to really explain what is rockin’ my ass off. Tailspin is the perfect example of a band exploiting their talent. Kings of Modesty knows that guitar is a major part of their sound. Yet the whole band oozes cohesiveness so don’t just listen to guitar riffs but take on board what they do together under the Kings of Modesty banner. Tailspin is awesome. ....
Miracle is big on keys and my I just add fantastic bass lead. ....
Tuura sets the pace and drives home the power on We Will March Our Way. From the opening rift to closure you do not know what you with get fro Kings of Modesty.....

KINGS OF MODESTY have signed with UK label Escape Music.
The Kings are thrilled and the debut album will see the light of day 25. of September throughout Europe. The Japanese territory is under negotiations and hopefully it will come together a.s.a.p too. The Album artwork is under designing and our AD/drummer friend from mighty LEVERAGE is pouring his creativity on it as we speak. King Of Modesty is now concentrating on rehearsing the live set and the guys are more than excited to get onstage to play their asses off to promote the upcoming album!

KoM is in final stage of recordings of their debut!
...few vocal lines, guitar and bass tracks and then we are ready to enter into mixing studio! Fuckin awesome! Its has been really enjoyable and sometimes hectic moments in deep down dark studio, but I think we have achieved what we wanted and thats the whole point of doing music you love!:-)
We are lucky to have our friend in music behind the mixing table. Mr. Torsti Spoof from mighty Leverage band who really is the man with a vision as we all know about his work with guitar and behind the mixing table. So in couple of weeks he starts to do his magic with our hard and heavy riffs and melodies and I cant hardly wait ..till we hear the final mastered version of our first born! So stay tuned and watch out inda near future cause the Kings are comin and they..re COMING HARD !!!...the end of 2009 is going to be A joyride with the Kings Of Modesty !!! ..till then...keep on charging your batteris...

Tämä on taas näitä tapauksia, joissa tuntuu hiukan vähättelevältä puhua pelkästä demosta: sen verran laadukkaan tuotoksen on Kings of Modesty saanut aikaiseksi. Se ei toisaalta ole mikään ihme, sillä bändin muusikot ovat jo ihan levyttävissä ja mainettakin niittäneissä bändeissä (Ancara, Brother Firetribe) soittavia ammattilaisia. Promon tuotannosta taas on vastannut eräs Emppu Vuorinen, jonka nimi saattaa myöskin soittaa joillekin kelloja.
Homman nimi on siis sankariheavy lievillä progevaikutteilla. Kaikki levyn neljä biisiä ovat tasaisen laadukkaita, lennokkaita ja tarttuvia heviveisuja. Laulaja Jason Flinckin palkeissa riittää puhtia, eikä muiden bändiläisten soittotaitoja varmaankaan edes tarvitse sen kummemmin hehkuttaa.
En totta puhuen kuuntele tämän tyylistä musiikkia nykyään lainkaan, mutta Kings of Modestyn pystyn ilman mitään vaikeuksia havaitsemaan lajinsa valioyksilöksi. En epäile yhtään, etteikö levydiili tippuisi aivan lähiaikoina. Melodisen metallin diggareiden kannattaa pitää tämä nimi mielessä.

Kings Of Modesty is a new band formed a year ago, featuring Brother Firetribe-bassist Jason Flinck, the last one joining this band. He's now switched places from his normal duties to the vocalist slot, having a voice that is easily recognizable. You know, voices like Axl Rose, Joe Lynn Turner, Bon Scott or even Mr. Lordi, but Flinck has a smoother approach than most of those mentioned. He handles well both high vocals and parts that demand more power and manly attitude. The other musicians are Samuel Hjelt (lead guitar), Henkka Tuura (bass), Mikael Hjelt (keys) and Rane Simoinen (drums), but a little help also came from Flinck's Firetribe-mate, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, who also recorded the promo and produced it together with the band in his EMajor studio. The mixing and mastering was done by Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila, so this release sounds very interesting, not to mention the band also features an Ancara-member Samuel Hjelt.
All these promising features won't let the listener down either. The experience shows in Kings Of Modesty, the band is tight, powerful and the songs are well structured. The band plays modern sounding heavy metal, mixing in hard rock, classic and power metal with class. The band is very melodic, giving room to big vocal harmonies and choruses that are flying high, also including catchy guitar parts and striking keys. The drums are heavy enough for this kind of music, though the sound could've been a bit better. This release features four catchy and rocking songs, more heavier than what you're used to hearing from Firetribe, but this will definately work for those who love powerful metal with inspiring vocals and musical passages. Samples can be found from their website and an album should be out this year, so we'll just have to wait what these lads can offer on a full-length.
